Florida Cosmetology License Renewal Requirements
Licensed cosmetologists, nail techs and estheticians shall complete a minimum of 16 hours of CE courses which shall include, at a minimum, all of the following subjects as they relate to the practice of cosmetology:
- HIV/AIDS & other communicable diseases - 2 hours
- Sanitation and sterilization - 3 hours
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations - 1 hour
- Workers' compensation as it pertains to Florida law - 1 hour
- State and federal laws and rules as they pertain to cosmetologists, cosmetology, salons, specialists, specialty salons and booth renters; specifically including but not limited to Chapter 477, F.D., and the rules of the board - 2 hours
- Chemical makeup as pertains to hair, skin and nails - 2 hours
- Environmental issues - 1 hour
- Other courses approved by the Florida Cosmetology Board - 4 hours
